Artist Biography

Alicia Chatham grew up in a family that loved the arts and music. Her mother took her to art classes at an early age, and Alicia’s artistic interest carried into highschool, as she learned to paint and draw from life.

Alicia moved to Asheville in 1995 from South Carolina. She worked as a wedding photographer for seven years, during which time She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, with a focus in oil painting. Two pieces from Alicia's senior exhibition are on permanent display in UNCA's Lipinksy Auditorium.

Since graduating from UNCA, her works have frequented many Asheville establishments and her works are currently available and on display at the Kress Emporium downtown.

In addition to Asheville locations, Alicia’s works can be seen at Portfolio Art Gallery and Clines Salon in Columbia, SC.

Continuing her work with the human form, Alicia also indulges in flora and landscapes whenever possible. She finds that her work is constantly changing and evolving with time, and is inspired by both her natural surroundings and the human figure.

Alicia's talent extends beyond the canvas. She also crafts intricate sterling silver jewelery, which can be found alongside her paintings at the Kress Emporium in downtown Asheville.

Alicia currently lives in Asheville, NC with her husband and two boys, Gray and Dax
